Registration Form for a Hike in Wadi Dragot
Due to weather conditions, the wadi may be closed on short notice. Please check here before leaving home.
Please register and read the instructions below carefully, including the page entitled “useful information for hikers.” When you sign up, please make sure to provide an email internet address (ending with .com). If you sign up from another email, it is very likely that due to internet security, the automatic approval mail that is sent to you from the website will be blocked and you will think your reservation has not been received. Please keep the area clean and take your garbage with you. There is a garbage bin at the end of the trail, near road 90.
Important! Important! Important! Please make sure that all the hikers you register (down to the last hiker in your group) read the site instructions here, and especially the section entitled “useful information for hikers.” This is so they will know how and what to prepare and what awaits them on a hike in the wadi.
A hike in Wadi Dragot requires pre-registration and meeting the following conditions
Entry is from age 10 and above only.
You must have a rappelling rope (diameter 8–12 mm) at least 30 meters long in one piece (no knots). You will find photos of suitable ropes at the end of the section on “useful information for hikers.”
A group must have a suitable rope for every 10 hikers.
Hikers must know how to swim (there are deep pools on the trail that must be crossed by swimming).
Wear comfortable walking shoes – entry is prohibited in sandals, flip-flops, diving flippers or any type of water shoes. Hiking alone in the wadi is also strictly prohibited.
Entry to the wadi is permitted until 9 A.M. according to winter time, and until 10 A.M. according to summer time. If 200 hikers have entered the wadi before the time noted above, the wadi will close.
Entry to animals is prohibited.
Bring a cellphone, flashlight and waterproof bags for the phone and other equipment. (Everything gets wet! You cannot hike the trail without immersing yourself and your equipment completely in deep water.)
Do not bring flotation devices such as inflatable rings, inflatable boats, etc., to float your backpack and equipment through the pools – everything gets wet!
You must confirm that weather conditions permit entry to the trail on the day of your hike.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the wadi occasionally closes to hikers at the last minute. Therefore you must check on this site whether the wadi is open to hikers before you leave home as well as while you are on your way to the wadi, if possible.
Important! Important! Entry to the wadi is limited to 200 hikers per day. Therefore, if after you register your plans change and you will not be coming, or the number of hikers in your group has changed, please send us a “cancellation” or “update” using the email you were given when your hike was approved, so others can sign up.
At the end of the hike, send us an email or text message to 053-2735283 (this number is for text messages only, not for phone calls). Do so immediately after you leave the second gorge – after reporting point 7, which is the last waterfall in the wadi, or immediately after you have cellphone reception (see “useful information for hikers”). Include in your message the full name by which you registered and the number of hikers in your group, so that we know you are out. darga@npa.org.il.
Terms of Use
The registration site for the hike in Wadi Dragot (below: “the trail”) was set up due to restrictions on the number of hikers allowed on the trail and the desire to avoid disappointment and unpleasantness for people who have traveled a long way to hike here. The registration site also allows the Israel Nature and Parks Authority advance control over the number of hikers each day.
The Israel Nature and Parks Authority is not obliged to permit entry to the trail to everyone who registered, even if registration was approved. The Israel Nature and Parks Authority will not make use of the information entered on the registration site except for the purposes detailed on the registration site and/or when a representative of the Authority is required to make contact with a hiker on the trail to convey/receive information regarding his or her condition, location on the trail or other information needed to protect the safety of hikers on the trail. The Authority will not convey these details to any third party, and will act in keeping with the policy of terms of use and privacy detailed on the Authority website.
